I am 32, married, have three daughters ages 2, 7 and 9, and we were putting on cruise control because we figured we had this thing down and it was smooth driving from there!!
EEERRRRRRRRKK!!
That is the sound of our brakes as we discovered about two weeks ago that we were expecting our fourth!
Just wanted to let everyone know that Kalli Anne was born on Tuesday, April 5 at 6:30pm. She was induced that morning and ended up being my longest labor. Her sisters are very happy that she is here! She weighed 7 pounds 13 oz. So much for the sonogram estimate of a 10 pounder!!
Anyway, we are doing really good. She is nursing great which is shocking since we had a ton of troubles with my other three girls nursing the first few weeks. Nights are a bit hard, but she finally slept 2 hours straight last night which was nice. My husband is home for two weeks to help so that has been a huge blessing!!!
I will try to get a birth story written up soon!
Kristi
Well, it is due day!!!! I was so sure that I was not going to make it this far and have her early, oops, I was wrong! I had some spotting yesterday morning and was sure that I would have her yesterday and then nothing, nada, zilch all day!!! Today I have had more spotting, so I am again hoping that she is coming today. My mom's birthday is tomorrow so she is cheering for my waiting a day. My first daughter was born the day before she was due and my other two were induced 6 and 3 weeks early due to complications. I am very glad to not have the complications this time around, but had forgotten how long those last couple of weeks seem.
We just got back from Home Depot buying some flowers for me to plant in our front flower bed. I am very excited to get that done. I mowed the front lawn yesterday to try and get labor started, but it obviously did not work. Today we are just getting the house picked up, laundry done and such to get ready.
At my doctor's appointment on Thursday she said I was 1-2 cm dilated and very soft. The baby looked good on the NST and BPP. We were able to see a head full of hair
She did measurements and she measured smaller than she had last week, but my OB said that is because of the position she was in and the fact that Kalli was face up so she could not get a head circumference measurement. She wants to induce on Tuesday if Kalli has not made an appearance yet! I am praying that she will come on her own as at least from my experience, an induced labor is much harder and more painful than going natural.
Well, I guess I will head off to plant my flowers!! I will keep you posted as to any new developments![]()
Later,
Kristi
Well, 5 days until my due date. I went to the OB last Friday and the baby is still high, I am only dilated about 1cm and effaced 50%. Friday night hubby and I took our oldest daughter to leadership convention she was attending for church. We spent the night at the hotel on Friday night. About 1am I woke up feeling really icky. I though maybe I had a stomach bug as I kept getting up thinking I needed to use the bathroom. It took me about 30 minutes of getting up trying to go use the bathroom (with no success!) and getting back in bed every five minutes for me to realize that I was in labor! Then I panicked because it was really getting painful. I woke up my husband and we timed the contractions and found that they were coming every five minutes and lasting about 1 minute. I was very upset because my daughter was scheduled to sing in a chorus at 8am that morning and I knew that it was very important to her. Well, hubby got dressed and started packing. I finally told him to stop and just help me relax in bed and maybe we could get labor to hold off. It was very important to me to be able to watch Brianna's performance. So at about 3am they slowed down and I went to sleep. I woke up a couple of more times with contractions, but they were progressively slowing down. I was so thankful!!
I was sure that Saturday, once I was up and moving that they would start up again, but they never did to the same intensity. I have had a few this morning, but nothing to bowl me over!! My kids are getting really impatient and excited!!! I can't blame them. It also seems like every five minutes someone is calling and asking if today is the day, like I would know!!! I am happy that people care though![]()
We had an interview with a cleaning lady last night and have decided to go ahead and use her, at least for the next six months or so. I am really excited. She is going to start tomorrow and has come very highly recommended by several people who work with my husband. I was very hesitant to do this at first as I did not want my daughters to become careless in their responsibilities regarding their chores and such, but she will be doing the things that are mostly my jobs and then some extra. The girls will have a lighter chore load on the one day a week that she will come, but it should not affect all of the other days. I am though having to fight back the urge to get my house clean for her to come and clean!! Crazy, huh??!!![]()
Easter was nice, but outside was sooo muddy and wet!! I was really kinda hoping that Kalli Anne would be born on Easter, but I guess God has other plans
Well, I continue to pray for a short, easy, problem free labor!! I am really excited to meet our new daughter. I have another OB appointment on Thursday, my OB is now back in town!!!!!
Other than a backache and being incredibly tired, I am feeling really good!!
Well, I guess this is goodbye for today!! Hopefully I will write a birth story sooner rather than later!!
Kristi
Good evening!! I had my sonogram yesterday to check the baby's size and they estimate her to be between 8 and 9 pounds, give or take a pound on each side. Given that I have 2 weeks to go, she could weigh between 9 - 10 pounds at birth. That is not too bad since my first daughter was 9 pounds and that labor was not too bad.
So, that was all good news! My OB will be out of town until Monday so I will see her partner on Friday for another check!!
Well, have a great evening!!
Kristi
Well, I must say I am officially down in the dumps!! I went for my OB appointment on Thursday and she said that my cervix is back to being closed and the baby is out of the pelvis. I have no idea why she has decided to climb back up my throat! I have spent the last three days really feeling sorry for myself!! I feel like she may never be born
They are doing another sono tomorrow to check her size as my doctor is afraid that she might be getting too big. My doctor is out of town for the next week so I am not sure what good it will do to find that out right now, but oh well!! I am definately not a pleasure to be around right now. I am really grumpy, tired and sore.
I keep reminding myself that another week or two is nothing, but it is getting harder to maintain a positve attitude. The baby looked good at the NST on Thursday so that was really good.
Well, I don't have much else to write about. I shall be back soon![]()
