Strawberry Banana Smoothie
1 small banana, peeled, cut up, and frozen
1/4 cup fresh or frozen strawberries
1 cup orange juice
3 Tbsp. nonfat vanilla yogurt
Combine all ingredients in a blender. Cover
and blend until smooth.
Variations: Use any of your favorite berries for a change. Raspberry,
blueberry, blackberry or a mixture of any or all!

1 gallon apple juice
1 can pineapple juice
1 cup orange juice
1/2 c. sugar
1 whole nutmeg
4/5 cinnamon sticks
several whole allspice and cloves.
Mix all together and slowly simmer on top of stove. Serve
warm.
It is great during the holidays.

Morning Sickness Smoothie
1 1/2 cups diced pears
1/2 cup low-fat peach yogurt
1/2 cup pear nectar
1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
3 to 5 ice cubes, crushed
Combine the pears, peach
yogurt and pear nectar in a blender. Add all remaining ingredients.
Blend until smooth.
Makes about 2 1/2 cups.
I swear by this smoothie. It
was the only thing that I could stand for the first couple of months
of my current and last pregnancy!

HomeMade Hot Cocoa
In a large sauce pan mix 1/2c sugar
and 1/3c unsweetened cocoa.
Add 1/2c water and whisk until well blended over medium heat.
Add 4c skim (or other of your choice) milk slowly, whisking to blend.
Cook over medium heat to desired temperature.
Remove from heat and add scant 1t vanilla, dash of cinnamon* or other
flavor of choice.
Drink what you can, refrigerate the rest. Reheat by mug in
microwave, adding milk as needed. For some reason, the cocoa gets
stronger with time!
*Adjust to taste. The original recipe called for 1/2c sugar &
cocoa, but, at least with a cocoa like Ghiradelli's, that is way too much.
Enjoy!
(Another tip I garnered from
COOKING LIGHT is that adding coffee (instant) can bring out the flavor of
chocolate while using less, or make cocoa more chocolate-like.)
