I started my baby with apples and pears.

I only cooked the apples the first batch when she first began to eat fruit. I found that I could make the fruit without cooking it and I got the same results.

You will need:

A steamer - If you decide to cook any fruit to soften it, save the liquid from the pot and use in place of bottled water to thin if needed.
(I used a pot and a vegetable steamer that sits on legs inside the pot.)
a blender, food processor or mini chopper
ice cube trays. How many will depend on how much food you are making. I have never filled more than 2 trays at a time, and that was using a whole pineapple, three apples and 2 bananas.
Freezer bags or freezer containers
Plastic cling film
Fruit ie: pears, apples, peaches, bananas etc.
**Use fresh fruit whenever possible, frozen comes in a close second. I avoid canned fruit, as most contains added sugar.

To Begin:

Wash and/or peel your fruit. Cut into small pieces. Be sure to remove all the stuff that may be a choking hazard, the centers of the apples, pears, little pieces from the edge of pits...
Puree in blender, food processor or mini chopper, adding bottled water, if necessary, a little at a time, (I used about a tbsp at a time for the apples), until the desired consistency is reached. You can always thicken the mixture when serving with a little cereal.
Spoon the mixture into the ice cube trays.
Cover the tray with cling film and place in the freezer.
Once they are frozen, pop them out into freezer bags or containers and label them with the date and what vegetable they are.
To thaw, simply move a cube or two from the freezer to the fridge in the morning, or place in the microwave on a low setting when needed.

I let them freeze overnight and pop them out in the morning!

As my baby started eating different fruits, I started mixing fruit medleys. Check out the baby food in the stores for suggestions, or just make up your own!

Here are my baby's favorites:
pineapple/apple/banana
pear/apple
blueberry/banana

Have fun and I hope you enjoy making food for your baby as much as I do!
